Wear Resistant Steel Plate
NM500/NM550 Wear Resistant Steel Plate
NM500/NM550 high hardness wear resistant steel plate for chutes, hoppers, crusher liners and other heavy wear applications.
NM500 and NM550 sit at the high-hardness end of the abrasion family: 500-550 HBW nominal, for severe wear where softer plates simply wash away - think quartz-lined chutes, crusher liners and shot-blast equipment. The trade is real: toughness is lower than NM400, so design these parts for abrasion, not impact.
Grades and Standards
- GB/T 24186 NM500 / NM550
- AR500-class equivalents from other producers
- Typical hardness 480-550 HBW (NM500), 530 HBW and up (NM550)
Sizes and Stock
- Thickness 4-65 mm; widths 2000-2500 mm
- Plasma and laser cutting; drilling with carbide tooling
Quality Documents
Per-plate hardness reports with EN 10204 3.1 MTC. Flatness is checked before dispatch - a warped liner is a re-fitting headache you do not want.
Where This Plate Goes
- Crusher liners and grizzly bars
- Hopper and chute linings handling sharp aggregate
- Shot blasting cabinets and fan housings
- Cement and mining transfer points
Questions Buyers Ask
Q: How much longer does NM500 last than NM450? A: Wear life tracks hardness in pure abrasion - expect meaningfully longer life in sharp, fast-moving material, but under heavy impact NM450 or NM400 resists cracking better. The failure mode decides, not the hardness number.
Q: Machining? A: Drill with carbide, cut with plasma or laser; avoid tapping deep threads - design bolt-through instead.
Send the wear profile photos if you have them - we have matched liners to failure modes for years and will tell you honestly which grade fits.
