Pressure Vessel Steel Plate

SA387 Gr.11/Gr.22 CL2 Chrome Moly Plate

ASME SA387 Gr.11 CL2 and Gr.22 CL2 chromium molybdenum alloy steel plate for high temperature hydrogen service in refineries.

SA387 chrome-moly plate is built for hydrogen and heat: Gr.11 (1.25Cr-0.5Mo) and Gr.22 (2.25Cr-1Mo) in Class 2, normalized and tempered. Hydrotreaters, hydrogenation units and high-temperature boilers specify it because carbon steel simply embrittles there.

Grades and Standards

  • ASME SA387 Gr.11 CL2 / Gr.22 CL2
  • Class 2 = tempered with guaranteed tensile in a defined band
  • Step-cooling simulation and J-factor (x-factor) control available for hydrogen service specs

Sizes and Supply

  • Thickness 6-150 mm, widths 2000-3500 mm
  • Cut-to-size, PWHT on request before dispatch

Delivery Condition and Testing

EN 10204 3.1 MTC with elevated-temperature tensile on request. UT to SA435 Level A/B/C per your spec. For hydrogen service we supply temper embrittlement documentation - J-factor and x-factor values from the actual heat.

Where This Plate Goes

  • Hydrotreater and hydrogenation reactor shells
  • High-temperature boiler components
  • Petrochemical process vessels

Questions Buyers Ask

Q: Gr.11 or Gr.22? A: Temperature and hydrogen partial pressure decide - Gr.22 takes the hotter, higher-pressure hydrogen service. Your licensor's material selection has usually made the call already.
Q: Do you ship pre-PWHT? A: We can heat treat before shipment, but most fabricators prefer to run it after welding - discuss the sequence with your shop first.
These are project plates: send the full material spec, not just the grade, and the quote reflects every test in it.
